I'm declaring Oliver officially off the Flovent. I was ready to go to every third day two weeks ago, but then he got sick. I kept with the every other day, but then forgot a day. Since he was doing fine, I kept with that pattern one more time and then stopped the medicine altogether. So far so good!
So, for the time being, his EoE is only diet-controlled. It's my understanding that we were using the medications to help his esophagus heal, so that it wouldn't be painful for him to eat. Once we have an endoscopy, we'll know for sure if his esophagus is doing better.

Another GI Visit
Today's visit to the GI went much better. Based on information Jordan received at the conference and things we have read on an email listserv we both belong to, we feel like we really do have a good doctor working with us. Jordan feels much better than he did after the last visit.
The doctor wants us to wean Oliver off the flovent now. He suggested a very, very gradual weaning. We are currently at two a day, but he wants us to go to one a day and stay there for several weeks and then go to every other day for awhile and go from there.
There is still no plan for another endoscopy to check progress.

A Half a Dose Doesn't Quite Cut It
Last week, we were giving Oliver just a half of a dose of his budesonide slurry. At first, it was hard to tell if he was doing okay with just that little bit. He seemed a bit irritable, but he's a baby so that could be due to many things and not just the lack of medicine. On Friday night it was pretty clear that he was not happy and then he vomited a lot. Saturday wasn't much better, and we wished it wasn't the weekend so that we could call the doctor! He was refusing his bottle and not really eating much else either. We were getting him to drink water, though.
On Monday night, the nurse returned our call from earlier that day. She just left a message because we weren't home and wasn't much help. We finally spoke to the GI and he wants to give Oliver flovent. According to him, it will be sort of a step in between the budesonide and nothing. So, just a way to wean him off medicines a bit more gently.
